CGH Global Health builds on Changi General Hospital’s partnerships with regional and international organisations and institutions to support professional exchange, capability building and care innovation in Singapore and beyond.

Objective(s):

The Seamless Care for Ageing Population Programme was a collaboration between Changi General Hospital, SingHealth International Collaboration Office, Temasek Foundation International and Thailand’s Department of Medical Services, from 2019 to 2023.

Through professional training and knowledge exchange in Singapore, CGH shared best practices in geriatric and palliative care with a delegation of doctors from Thailand, covering clinical approaches, multidisciplinary care models and approaches to community care models for older adults.

They also visited CGH’s community partners to better understand how geriatric services are delivered in the community, reflecting CGH’s integrated approach to supporting older adults across care settings.

Changi General Hospital’s partnership with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has spanned more than two decades, beginning with academic ties and growing into fellowships, observerships and exchanges involving doctors, nurses and allied health staff in areas such as robotic surgery, frailty management and traditional Chinese medicine.

Recent initiatives include research to validate artificial intelligence algorithms to support the prediction of clinical outcomes and triage, such as in hip fracture, with potential expansion to other conditions. CGH and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital have also established an Emergency Medicine Academic Clinical Programme Fellowship to support short-term observerships and knowledge exchange in areas such as toxicology and systems-based practices in clinical services, education and research.

The collaboration has also included medical awareness seminars across Southeast Asia, covering topics such as aesthetic surgery and proton beam therapy in Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The partnership between Changi General Hospital and Guigang City People’s Hospital supported hospital-to-hospital exchange in medical skills development, professional training, hospital management, medical services, education and research from 2013 to 2018.

As part of the collaboration, staff from Guigang City People’s Hospital undertook attachments at CGH in specialised areas including the Operating Theatre, Intensive Care Unit, Specialist Outpatient Clinics, Renal Unit, Endoscopy Centre, Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, and Emergency Department. These attachments provided opportunities to exchange knowledge on medical technology, patient care processes, clinical procedures, nursing management, quality improvement, infection control, and emergency and trauma care.

The collaboration also provided a platform for both institutions to share resources, develop joint programmes, and support continued professional and clinical development, with the shared aim of better healthcare outcomes for the communities they serve.

Objective(s):

Changi General Hospital’s collaboration with King’s College London’s Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care was formalised in 2025 to advance education, research and service innovation in geriatric care, palliative care and related fields.

Under this partnership, CGH and King’s College London will work together to build a pipeline of nursing leaders in geriatric and palliative care through education, research and mentorship.

The MOU aims to strengthen the integration of geriatric and palliative care across healthcare systems by embedding research leadership in hospital and community settings, in line with healthcare priorities for Singapore and the region.

Both institutions will collaborate to co-design research projects with seed-corn grants in CGH and the community; develop education programmes and joint fellowships for healthcare professionals; and share knowledge and best practices through various platforms to advance research and inform clinical practice.

CGH Global Health is part of the wider SingHealth ecosystem supporting regional and international healthcare collaboration.

Supports cross-border collaborations to build healthcare capabilities and sustainability in the region, with focus areas including trauma, emergency and disaster management; patient safety and hospital quality management; maternal and child health; nursing and allied health.

SingHealth Centre for Global Nursing
Works with partners in Asia and beyond to improve population health outcomes, build nursing capability and capacity, and strengthen health systems through education, research and innovation.
