CGH Adrenal Hypertension Centre

At the CGH Adrenal Hypertension Centre, a multi-disciplinary care team provides timely diagnosis and treatment to patients with endocrine hypertension and adrenal conditions in Singapore and the region. The Centre also aims to increase awareness and improve screening of adrenal hypertension through collaborations with local primary care partners.

In Singapore, one in three people have hypertension. While about 50,000 people here have the potentially curable form of hypertension – primary aldosteronism – less than 50 cases are diagnosed yearly. In addition, half of the diagnoses are made five years after the initial symptoms. If left untreated, primary aldosteronism can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and chronic kidney disease.

The Adrenal Hypertension Centre provides the following services:

• Diagnosis of secondary (adrenal/endocrine) hypertension
• Diagnosis and treatment of adrenal disorders (e.g. uncontrolled hypertension, excess steroid hormones, low potassium disorders)
• Surgical management of adrenal disorders
• Treatment of adrenal cancers
• Genetic testing for adrenal disorders
• Telehealth consultations
• Medication counselling
• Aldosterone and renin profiling
• Specialised tests, including salt loading and adrenal vein sampling (23-hour service)
• Synacthen tests
