Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art mass spectrometry services and expertise while expanding mass spectrometry application across various clinical disciplines and pharmacology. SC³ is poised to become the regional mass spectrometry reference centre for clinical diagnostics.

Clinical Services

Changi General Hospital, through SC³, is now licensed by the Ministry of Health Singapore to conduct the following tests as a clinical service:

1. Plasma aldosterone concentration
2. Plasma renin activity
   

Both tests are developed using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and have been validated rigorously based on CLSI (Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute) guidelines.

Clinically, the measurement of plasma aldosterone and renin activity is important in the investigation of primary aldosteronism, a curable form of hypertension.

Processing specimens locally at SC³ will allow for shorter turnaround times – estimated turnaround times for these tests is five working days*. This enables more precise and personalised treatment and management of hypertension from the start for improved patient outcomes.

*Turnaround time may differ for specimens from other institutions.

Research Services

SC³ offers targeted mass spectrometry services for relative/absolute quantification of target peptides, hormones, drugs, metabolites using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). Applicable sample types include blood, plasma, serum, urine and other biological fluids.
