Our Services

Synonym(s):

Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art mass spectrometry services and expertise while expanding mass spectrometry application across various clinical disciplines and pharmacology. SC3 is poised to become the regional mass spectrometry reference centre for clinical diagnostics.

Clinical Services

Changi General Hospital, through SC3, is now licensed by the Ministry of Health Singapore to conduct the following tests as a clinical service:

  1. Plasma aldosterone concentration
  2. Plasma renin activity

Both tests are developed using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and have been validated rigorously based on CLSI (Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute) guidelines.

Clinically, the measurement of plasma aldosterone and renin activity is important in the investigation of primary aldosteronism, a curable form of hypertension.

Processing specimens locally at SC3 will allow for shorter turnaround times – estimated turnaround times for these tests is five working days*. This enables more precise and personalised treatment and management of hypertension from the start for improved patient outcomes.

*Turnaround time may differ for specimens from other institutions.

To find out more about sending clinical samples to SC3, please email us at SC3@cgh.com.sg

Research Services

SC3 offers targeted mass spectrometry services for relative/absolute quantification of target peptides, hormones, drugs, metabolites using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). Applicable sample types include blood, plasma, serum, urine and other biological fluids.

Call For Collaboration

With the enabling technology of mass spectrometry and biosafety level 2 (BSL2) facility, SC3 invites companies and/or organisations to co-develop novel clinical tests and applications with CGH. Please contact us for more information.
