Dr Sun graduated in 2007 from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), before completing his six years of residency training in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. His interests include microsurgical head and neck, breast and lower limb reconstruction, as well as post-bariatric body contouring surgery. He has undergone clinical observer-ships in Mexico, which has given him the experience to tackle more complex body contouring cases.

He was also awarded an international fellowship for aesthetic plastic surgery by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) in 2020. This fellowship is awarded to one international plastic surgeon annually, and gives them the opportunity to learn both aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery from plastic surgeons throughout America.
