Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS)

Because your voice matters. Tell us how your condition affects your life through PROMs

Synonym(s):

What are Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS)?

PROMs are short questionnaires that ask about your symptoms, daily activities, and well-being directly from your perspective.

Unlike tests or scans, PROMs capture what can only be felt and lived by you, such as:

  • How much pain or fatigue you experience
  • How well you sleep or move
  • Whether treatment helps you return to daily life
  • How confident and independent you feel in recovery

While two patients may share the same diagnosis, their experiences may be completely different. PROMs help our care team tailor treatment, track your recovery, and understand what your recovery means to you.

With PROMs, we can focus on improving patient outcomes, with care that is more effective, personalised, and compassionate.

What do PROMs look like?

A PROMs survey is a quick and simple way to share what matters to you, and helps our care team understand your recovery and plan what is next, together with you.

  1. Your care team will share more about how the PROMs survey fits into your specific care journey and guide you on what to note for.
  2. You will either receive a link via SMS* at key points of your care journey  , or you will be given a QR code to scan during your visit.
  3. The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential and stored securely.

*Your privacy and confidentiality matter to us. All PROMs collected electronically are done through secure platforms. You will receive SMS or text messages from sender ID '77551', 'SingHealth' or other official sender IDs that your clinical team will inform you about in advance.

Why is it important to take part in PROMs?

Your voice helps shape care that truly listens.

Better Conversations
By taking part in a PROMs survey, you are telling your care team what matters to you and helps you start more meaningful conversations with the care team.

Better Healthcare
With more respondents to PROMs surveys, our care team will be able to see which treatments lead to the best outcomes, improving care for yourself and other patients.

What PROMs mean to a patient

A double cancer survivor, Mr Ellil Mathiyan Lakshmanan is a passionate patient advocate with SingHealth’s Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN). He supports fellow patients and caregivers, and works closely with healthcare teams to strengthen communication, care quality, and psychosocial support – including as a patient partner in quality improvement and research.

As a strong believer of the benefits of PROMs, Ellil has been active in sharing his experiences and feedback from the patient’s perspective to help clinical teams in CGH incorporate the patient’s voice into clinical care.

What PROMs mean to a clinician

A Senior Consultant in Breast Surgery, Dr Mok Chi Wei has seen how PROMs transform the way patients communicate about their health. By reviewing patients’ responses before each visit, he gains a clearer understanding of their pain levels, mobility, feelings, and daily activities. PROMs help him identify changes early and tailor treatment plans more accurately to each patient’s needs.

Beyond individual care, Dr Mok and his team uses PROMs trends to guide clinical decisions, support multidisciplinary discussions, and improve overall service quality. He believes PROMs strengthen the partnership between patients and their care team, making care more personal, timely, and meaningful.
