Occupational Health Services

CGH provides a range of Occupational Health services, which includes:

Statutory Medical Examinations

• Under the Workplace Safety and Health (Statutory Medical Examinations) Regulations, employees who are exposed to certain health hazards during their work are required to undergo pre-placement and regular periodic medical examinations. These examinations are aimed at helping employees detect and prevent disease development.

Assessments and Diagnosis

• Fitness-to-work assessments to ensure workers with specific medical conditions are fit to work
  These assessments aim to ensure that workers are fit to perform assigned tasks effectively, minimizing risk to health and safety, by making reasonable adjustments to the job.

• Return-to-work assessments and medical absence management
  These assessments help employers manage employees who are absent from work for a prolonged period of time due to sickness. It helps employers gain a better understanding of the needs of the employee for the safe return to work. An additional element is assessment for gradual return to work (Eg: Employee issued with light duties).

• Return to Work Programme (Ministry Of Manpower)
  The Return to Work programme is a collaboration with Ministry of Manpower (MOM), aimed at helping workers who suffer from traumatic work injuries and work-related musculoskeletal injuries phase themselves back to work as soon as medically suitable.

• Workplace hazard assessment & advice
  These assist employers in identifying and recognizing potential hazards that are present in the workplace, and provides essential advice on preventive measures to protect employees from injuries and illness that could occur at the workplace.

• Work-related disability assessments
  These assessments are conducted for workers who have sustained permanent illness or injuries due to work exposure, for insurance claim purposes.

• Medical inputs for incident/accident investigations (Human Factors advisor)
  Occupational Medicine specialists can provide medical expert opinions as part of safety or accident investigations, to review and exclude the element of human factors as a contributory cause, and to prevent future recurrences.

• Diagnosis, investigation and management of occupational diseases
  This helps employees identify new symptoms or signs of worsening symptoms, and establish preventive measures to eliminate or control the condition through routine screening or ad-hoc consultations.

Consultancy

• Consultations on workplace design and ergonomic issues
  Ergonomic Intervention in the workplace helps prevent workers from getting work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and injuries. Employers can reference ergonomics programme guidelines to better match the capabilities of the working population in terms of workplace, equipment, tasks or job design.

• Consultancy on implementation of health and safety programmes to support the health and wellbeing of an organisation’s workforce
  Occupational Medicine specialists can provide advice and guidance to help organisations and employers reduce health and safety risks in the workplace, support employers in managing medical-related processes effectively, and promote a healthy and vibrant workforce.
