CGH Lipid Centre

The CGH Lipid Centre is a multidisciplinary team that provides holistic care to patients with lipid disorders in Singapore and the region. The centre is committed to raising awareness, driving clinical research, and improving care pathways for lipid disorders (also known as dyslipidaemia) to enhance patient care.

In Singapore, one in every three persons has a lipid disorder, most commonly hypercholesterolemia – high blood cholesterol. Lipid disorders are often attributed to genetic causes. Locally, one in every 150 people has familial hypercholesterolemia, and one in every eight people has elevated Lipoprotein(a).

These lipid disorders are more common among patients with cardiovascular disease. For example, one in every six people with heart attack may have elevated Lipoprotein(a). If untreated, lipid disorders may lead to heart attack, ischaemic heart disease, strokes, peripheral artery disease, pancreatitis and other cardio-metabolic conditions.

• Genetic counselling for lipid disorders
• Cascade testing of family members
• Managing the transition of patients with lipid disorders from paediatric to adult care
• Telehealth consultations for clinically suitable patients
• Medication counselling
• Specialised tests
