Geriatric Medicine

The Department of Geriatric Medicine at Changi General Hospital (CGH) looks after the needs of patients who are 65 years and older to prevent functional decline, maintain functional status and attain optimum clinical outcomes.

Elderly patients tend to have more than one medical, functional and care problem. Therefore, geriatricians work alongside a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of nurses, therapists, pharmacists and medical social workers to coordinate the care needs of older patients and their families.

The department also facilitates teaching in Geriatric Medicine, from the undergraduate to post-graduate level while contributing to the professional education of nurses and allied health professionals.

It is our aim to restore the independence of our patients, so that they can continue to do as many things for themselves as possible. We hope to enhance the quality and dignity of their lives.
