Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand (middle) and a team of Thai healthcare experts recently visited Changi General Hospital's (CGH) rehabilitation facilities.

Princess Sirindhorn toured the Integrated Building, the first purpose-build facility in Singapore jointly run by an acute hospital (CGH) and a community hospital (St Andrew's Community Hospital).

During her visit, she witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Institute (SNMRI) and CGH. The MOU was signed to enhance collaboration between the two institutes on medical rehabilitation, training and skills development.

Here are some highlights from Princess Sirindhorn's visit:

Visiting the Integrated Building's ward and its rehabilitation facilities. Launched in 2015, the IB provides optimised rehabilitation for patients, especially those who are elderly or recovering from stroke or traumatic injuries. It features diagnostic and rehabilitation facilities in a home-like environment to ease patient's transition back to home and the community. The IB has helped more than 9,800 patients to date.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirinhdorn and Mr Gerard Ee, Chairman, Eastern Health Alliance, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CGH and SNMRI, the leading rehabilitation institute in Thailand.
