The Empowering Community Health Outreach (ECHO) programme at Changi General Hospital empowers communities in eastern Singapore to lead healthier lives through education, collaboration, and sustainable health promotion initiatives.
The ECHO programme’s objectives are to:
Working closely with allied health professionals and community nurses, ECHO delivers interactive health talks on topics such as adopting healthy and active lifestyles, managing chronic diseases, bone health, podiatry and more, to empower residents to lead healthier lives. These talks provide practical health tips, raise awareness on managing health conditions and encourage positive lifestyle changes.
To establish a sustainable community-led model of public health education to support preventive health efforts, ECHO has piloted a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Programme.
Developed in partnership with allied health professionals from CGH, the TTT programme equips community partners with essential knowledge and facilitation skills to independently deliver health education talks and run group workshops for residents in their communities. A foundational module on nutrition has been introduced to this TTT programme and is open to interested staff from Active Ageing Centres.
Staff from Active Ageing Centres who are interested in enrolling in the TTT programme may contact us at echo@cgh.com.sg.
