Dr Farooq Akram joined the National University Health System (NUHS) in Singapore after obtaining his fellowship in internal medicine (FCPS) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and MRCP (UK) in 2007. He pursued further training in Internal Medicine at National University Hospital (NUH) and obtained specialist accreditation in 2012.

Dr Akram is currently a senior consultant in the Department of Medicine at Changi General Hospital (CGH). His area of interest is venous thromboembolic (VTE) diseases. He runs an out-patient VTE service and Acute General Medicine Clinic (AGMC) in collaboration with A&E CGH, which aims to reduce hospital admissions.

Apart from clinical work, Dr Akram is also actively involved in clinical education. He is a Clinical Core Faculty in SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency training program and a member of the SingHealth Medicine ACP (Academic Clinical Program) Council, representing CGH for undergraduate education arm of ACP.
