Fellowship in Advanced Airway Management and Simulation

The Department of Anaesthesia & Surgical Intensive Care, Changi General Hospital, is pleased to offer a position to an exceptional individual for a one-year fellowship in advanced airway management and simulation, in collaboration with the Changi Simulation Institute.

Our department comprises of local and international faculty, as well as pivotal members belonging to the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists' Airway Special Interest Group, who are highly motivated in the teaching and advancement of airway management skills. We have organised a variety of airway workshops and courses, including the first cadaveric advanced airway workshop in the region in 2013. We are actively involved in the teaching and formulation of the airway anaesthesia module of the local residency program. The Changi Simulation Institute, located within our premises, houses state-of-the-art facilities and regularly runs in-house and external simulation workshops, making it an excellent resource for the Fellow to organise and conduct airway and other simulation training for the department and its trainees.

The Fellow is expected to acquire and demonstrate expertise in airway evaluation and alternative management techniques, eventually serving as a departmental resource to assist in the teaching and management of difficult airways. The Fellow will be exposed to otorhinolaryngology and head and neck lists, and be given the opportunity to run the emergency airway service. In addition, we encourage the Fellow to initiate and participate in research and educational activities such as presenting and teaching at local and international conferences and workshops. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to assist in the execution of the local airway workshop, as well as be involved in the updating of the airway teaching curriculum for local residents and medical students. During the one year Fellowship, the Fellow will have ample opportunities to utilise the Simulation Institute to organise and run simulation training, as well as attend local courses to gain further exposure to medical simulation and education.

Further details with regards to the program may be found here (Annex I). More information about Singapore, Changi General Hospital and the Department of Anaesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care may be found here. (Annex II)
