The Colorectal Surgery Service team at Changi General Hospital (CGH) is made up of specialist doctors and nurses as well as medical oncologists, radiologists and allied health professionals. Our team provides comprehensive surgical care for a wide spectrum of colorectal conditions which includes clinical consultation, evaluation and treatment.

Our team specialises in minimally -invasive surgery (i.e. key-hole surgery), which includes:

  • Conventional Laparoscopic Surgery
  • Robotic-assisted Surgery
  • Natural-orifice and Transanal Surgery

We also perform diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopy as well as treatment for benign colorectal diseases such as haemorrhoids (i.e. piles), perianal abscesses and fistula.

Our clinicians place an emphasis on cancer prevention and early detection with modern endoscopy facilities. We also provide one to one consultation and counselling for high risk individuals.

Clinical Services

  • Colorectal cancer screening and treatment
  • Evaluate positive faecal occult blood test (FOBT) or blood in stools
  • Symptoms related to bowel habits – constipation, diarrhoea, irregular bowel habits, incontinence
  • Symptoms related to the anus – pain, discharge, lumps
  • Symptoms related to the abdomen – pain, bloatedness, indigestion
  • Evaluation of anaemia
  • Management of unexplained loss of appetite and weight loss
  • Follow-up of previous colorectal polyps or cancer
  • Diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopy for multiple colorectal conditions
  • Treatment of benign colorectal diseases e.g. haemorrhoids (“piles”), perianal abscesses and fistula
  • Specialises in minimally invasive surgery (i.e. key-hole) for benign and malignant conditions, including laparoscopic/robotic surgery, natural-orifice and transanal surgery
  • Combined multi-visceral resections for advanced colorectal cancer
