The Department of Endocrinology is a tertiary referral centre which provides specialised and holistic care for conditions involving the hormone-producing endocrine glands. These include diabetes mellitus, obesity, cholesterol disorders, and disorders of bone, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and reproductive glands.

Subspecialty Clinics

Adolescent Diabetes / Transition Clinic

Our multidisciplinary clinic serves adolescents and young adults with diabetes who are transitioning from the pediatric endocrine service to adult care. It is run by a team of specialist diabetes physicians, nurse educators, dieticians and medical social workers.

Pre-conception Diabetes Clinic

This clinic prepares patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus before conception, optimising diabetes control and ensuring safety of medications for conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy. Pregnant patients with pre-existing diabetes are also followed up closely in this clinic.

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) Clinic

The T1DM clinic serves patients with diabetes on insulin who require specialist input for difficult diabetes care. It is complemented by the Joint Dietitian Diabetes Nurse Educator Clinic (JDD). This multidisciplinary team consists of diabetes specialists, diabetes nurse educators and dietitians with the goal of optimising patient’s T1DM care through education, insulin titration, and use of technology.

Advanced Insulin Therapy Clinic

This clinic serves patients with diabetes on insulin who require specialist input for difficult diabetes care, continuous glucose monitoring or continuous subcutaneous insulin infusions (e.g. insulin pumps).

Obesity, Metabolism and Weight Management Clinic

This clinic is run by endocrinologists, in conjunction with bariatric surgeons, dieticians, psychologists, physiotherapists, medical social workers and specialised bariatric nurses. Bariatric surgeons also see patients referred for bariatric surgery and after the surgery at the Obesity Surgery Clinic. Changi General Hospital (CGH) also adopts a ‘multi-specialty practice’ for some of our obesity patients, where the patients will see the bariatric surgeon, endocrinologist and dietician at the same visit.

Lipid Clinic

This clinic serves patients with severe dyslipidaemia conditions including familial hypercholesterolemia, statin intolerance and severe hypertriglyceridaemia. This clinic is run by endocrinologists, working closely with dietitians and other disciplines.

Thyroid Clinic

This clinic, run by specialist thyroid physicians, offers treatment of thyroid disorders and ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules.

Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic

This clinic is run by a specialist osteoporosis physician and specialist care nurses. It aims to provide comprehensive care for patients with osteopenia, osteoporosis and other disorders of bone metabolism. It is supported by allied health services including dietitians with a special interest in osteoporosis, and osteoporosis exercise classes run by experienced physiotherapists.

Adrenal Clinic

This clinic is run by endocrinologists who specialise in patients with endocrine (secondary) hypertension, primary aldosteronism, pheochromocytomas and adrenal tumours. Patients with complex adrenal conditions are also discussed with a multi-disciplinary team involving surgeons, urologists, radiologists and nuclear medicine physicists.

Pituitary Clinic

This clinic is run by endocrinologists in close collaboration with neurosurgeons. It provides expertise on the management of patients with pituitary conditions such as pituitary tumors, acromegaly, Cushing's disease and prolactinomas.

Gynaecological Endocrinology and Gender Dysphoria Clinics

These clinics provide consultation for menstrual disturbance (irregular periods), hirsutism (excessive hair growth), polycystic ovary syndrome, ovarian insufficiency, male hypogonadism and medical management of gender dysphoria.
