Augmenting richness of clinical data through automated gait assessment

Gait analysis is performed to provide information on patterns of a person's balance and walking pattern. This is necessary for someone who had lost their ability to walk, such as after suffering a stroke.

Typically in clinical settings, therapists rely on manual measurements for assessment and depend on observational skills to identify abnormal gait patterns. Such manual measurements are time consuming to obtain and the assessment is dependent on the therapist's experience. 3D motion analysis systems could also be used. However, a complete system requires dedicated space and is costly to implement.

CHART and therapist from CGH Rehabilitative services have been working with Japanese robotics company Reif Co,.Ltd, to develop a portable gait assessment robot which is easily shifted to any ward where the patient has been admitted. The robot also captures metrics such as stride length and stride width, which might not be easily detected by humans. Data is also presented in a visula and easily interpreted report which can be used for purpose of patient educations.


Co-developing a Last Mile Delivery Solution - Call for Collaboration

Manual supplies distribution is labour intensive and inefficient as it involves multiple loading and unloading of supplies. While there are off-the-shelf robot solutions available in the market, there is a limitation to adopt them to achieve end-to-end supplies delivery as the current technologies are unable to cater to multiple types of payloads supplied in the hospital.

In 2018, CHART and BES Technology Pte Ltd started a collaboration to co-design, co-develop and pilot a Last Mile Delivery Solution which:

a. Minimizes human intervention in the end-to end supply chain by delivering and replenishing directly to the Points of use and

b. Is able to cater to supplies payload of multiple sizes and form factors.
