Pharmacy Assistant - Nur Raudah Binte Sahrani

Nur Raudah Binte Sahrani, Pharmacy Assistant, Pharmacy

Nur Raudah Binte Sahrani grew up with a love for helping others. With a genuine interest in healthcare and caring for others, becoming a Pharmacy Assistant was a natural choice for her.

“I wanted to learn about the different types of medication and how the different drugs work in the human body to treat them. Through understanding the different drugs and medications, I am able to dispense medications accurately and advise patients on queries regarding the medication for their conditions. On a personal level, I enjoy interacting with people, so being a pharmacy assistant in a patient-facing role really suited me,” she shared.

Through her day-to-day tasks of packing and dispensing medication, inventory checks, billing, and responding to patient queries at the Medical Centre Pharmacy, Raudah is able to build on her medical knowledge, and apply what she has learnt to care for her family members.

“As the only member in my family that works in the healthcare industry, I feel a need to apply what I learnt at work, to look after the people I care most deeply about. My family’s health is a top priority for me, so it is important to me to ensure that my family can take care of their health and well-being,” she added.

Raudah’s job is not without its challenges, especially with the ongoing COVID-19 situation. With more patients opting for medication delivery services to minimise going out, workload at her department has increased. Still, she maintains a positive outlook, and makes sure that she works closely with her team to support one another, and complete the required tasks.

“The connection I have with my colleagues and superiors makes me feel appreciated, and the hospital feels like a second home to me. Working in CGH has also allowed me to expand my knowledge and interest in the pharmaceutical field,” she shared.

“One of the most rewarding things about being a part of the CGH family is the opportunities available to upgrade my skills. Although I have not been here for a long time, my superiors are supportive of me pursuing a part-time Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science to improve my knowledge and skill sets. I am grateful for their support, especially when resources can be lean sometimes,” she said.

If you’d like to join the CGH family as a Pharmacy Assistant, Raudah affirms that it would be a great opportunity to gain some hands-on experience on the job and develop skills and knowledge in this area.
