CGH 88th Anniversary HEALTHFest

The CGH 88th Anniversary HEALTHFest was held on Saturday, 6 January 2024 to educate and empower seniors to take active steps towards better health. Graced by Guest-of-Honour Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Law; and Mr Cheng Wai Keung, Chairman, SingHealth, it comprised a health awareness lesson outlining the cornerstones for healthy ageing, complemented by a health carnival with screenings for hearing loss and cancer as well as health education in mental health, chronic pain management, falls prevention and vaccinations.

The 'How to Stay Healthy Over 65' health awareness lesson, conducted by CGH geriatric medicine senior consultant Dr Alexis Ang, highlighted the importance of detection and early interventions for frailty and sarcopenia, and the four key concepts of healthy ageing, such as making healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, physical activity, and the importance of forming social connections.

With 469 seniors in attendance, the session set a new Guinness World RecordsTM title for the Largest Senior Citizen's Health Awareness Lesson.
