Visiting A Patient

We recognise that visitors are important to our patient’s healing process. The following guidelines have been established to encourage visitors, while giving our patients time to rest and recover. We seek your cooperation in following these guidelines.

Visiting Hours

Monday to Sunday (including PHs): 12:00pm to 2:00pm, 5:00pm to 8:30pm

After visiting hours, visitors will be asked to leave the wards and all ward doors will be locked.

Important Information

In view of the Ministry of Health’s guidance on hospital visitors, please take note of the following:

  • 2 visitors are allowed at the patients' bedside at any one time during visiting hours.
  • For critically-ill patients, 2 visitors are allowed at the patient's bedside at any time.
  • This includes visitors for COVID-19 patients.
  • 1 registered visitor is allowed for patients at our Emergency Department and outpatient centres/clinics.
  • Click here for more information on visiting guidelines to the inpatient wards.

All caregivers and visitors are encouraged to perform a self-administered Antigen Rapid Test (ART) before visiting their loved ones at the hospital.

Please do not visit the hospital if you:

  • are unwell
  • are under 12 years old

General Visiting Guidelines

  • Register at the registration counter for entry to wards.
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 second or apply hand sanitiser before entry to hospital premises and patient-facing areas.
  • Wear a mask with good filtration capability in the inpatient wards and the Emergency Department. Mask wearing is also strongly encouraged in outpatient settings for medically vulnerable persons, seniors and persons with acute respiratory infection.
  • Minimise interaction with other patients or visitors.
  • Do not consume any food and drinks within the ward.
  • Refrain from using patient toilets in the wards and avoid sitting on patient beds.
  • To minimise risk of contamination and food-related illnesses, food and drinks sent by delivery services to wards are not allowed.
  • Visitors can only bring essential items for patients. Contraband items (e.g. cigarettes) are not allowed.

Do also note:

  • Children under the age of 12 will not be allowed to visit inpatients. Exceptions will be made for certain groups of patients such as critically-ill inpatients, palliative inpatients and inpatients with special needs.
  • If treatment is required for the patient, our staff may ask visitors to leave.
  • Be considerate and keep noise levels down. Noise is a source of stress that interrupts patients' sleep and rest.
  • Switch your mobile phone to "SILENT" mode, and speak softly on the phone to avoid disturbing patients. In the ICU, mobile phones cannot be used within 2 metres of any medical equipment.
  • Smoking or drinking alcohol is not allowed on hospital premises.

Guidelines are subject to change in line with MOH guidance.
