Physiotherapists work with patients to help them regain mobility and function. They assess joint movement, muscle strength and endurance, and evaluate performance of daily activities and sports. Treatment includes therapeutic exercise, cardiovascular endurance training, manual therapy and other supplementary modalities including robotic aided therapy.

Our aim for therapy is to help patients achieve a better quality of life through education, awareness, empowerment and their participation in treatment.

Inpatient Service

Patients admitted to Changi General Hospital (CGH) may be referred for physiotherapy depending on diagnoses and therapeutic needs. Our therapists will assess and provide intervention tailored to the patient’s medical and physical status.

Inpatient physiotherapy services include:

  • Respiratory assessment and management
  • Intervention for change in function, deconditioning, fall risk, etc.
  • Exercise prescription for strengthening, flexibility, balance, gait, fitness, etc.
  • Caregiver training, patient and family education

Physiotherapists contribute as a member of the multidisciplinary care team to facilitate functional recovery. Where needed, referral for outpatient or community based services are made to ensure optimal recovery.

Outpatient Services

The department provides physiotherapy for a wide range of clinical conditions. Intervention is provided through individualised therapy plans incorporating exercise, education and functional training to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
