Our clinics are mostly based at the Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Medicine Centre. Apart from our general rehabilitation medicine specialist clinics, we have a number of specialty clinics.

Cancer Prehabilitation Service

Newly diagnosed cancer patients planned for surgery are assessed prior to their surgery and given personalized and targeted plans which includes medical optimization, exercise prescription, dietary interventions and aids to reduce stress and anxiety in this novel “one-stop” service. Prehabilitation has been shown to improve post-operative functional recovery, and reduce complications. Patients are also reviewed by the prehabilitation team post-operatively while they are in the hospital and further treatment plans are customized for them, including a post-discharge follow-up that aim to transit them into long-term beneficial and sustainable lifestyle modifications.

This service has been expanded to also include non-surgical cancer patients who may receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy. This is a one-stop service for prehabilitation.

Results of our pilot program in Colorectal patients have been positive, supporting the importance of prehabilitation as part of a holistic cancer care continuum. The launch of the Cancer Prehabilitation Exercise Diary in the Health Buddy App since November 2021 provides further enhancement in supporting, tracking and improving the compliance of patients to the home exercise prescriptions.

CGH-NNI Integrated Spine Centre

Patients with spine related problems may benefit from same day clinic consultations with a neurosurgeon, orthopaedics surgeon or rehabilitation medicine physician. This allows for seamless referrals and follow up care.

Electrodiagnostics Clinic

Patients with suspected neuromuscular diseases undergo nerve conduction tests and/or needle electrode examination by rehabilitation physicians and neurologists to assess the health of nerves and muscles.

Integrated Rehabilitation Musculoskeletal Clinic (IRMC)

Patients with musculoskeletal complaints are assessed holistically by rehabilitation physicians so that a management plan can be implemented to reduce long term disability. Non-surgical interventions including musculoskeletal injections may be performed for appropriate patients, and those who may benefit from surgical interventions will be referred to our orthopaedics colleagues.

Spasticity Clinic

Patients who suffer from spasticity as a result of stroke, spinal cord injury as well as traumatic brain injury may benefit from interventions such as botulinum toxin (Botox) injections, peripheral nerve blocks or motor-point block injections, followed by orthotic fitting such as splints. A multi-disciplinary management approach is taken to help patients minimise pain while maximising function and quality of life.

Urodynamics Clinic

The bladder function of patients after a spinal cord injury are assessed such that individualised bladder management programmes can be prescribed.

Botulinum Toxin For Chronic Migraine

Patients with chronic migraines may benefit from Botox injections (botulinum toxin). Patients will have to be seen and referred to this service by a neurologist.
