Direct GP Referral for Spirometry Tests

Spirometry is available for direct GP referral. The patient’s spirometry report will be emailed to the referring GP clinic’s email address within 7 working days when it is ready.

Spirometry is the most frequently performed lung function test to aid diagnosis, assess severity and monitor the response to treatment for conditions such as Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

To order the test, please call the Clinical Management Unit (CMU) hotline @ 6936 5491 / 6936 5492 to book an appointment and for further information from:

• Monday to Friday: 08:30am to 05:00 pm
• Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays: Closed

Thereafter, a referral memo with the following information will be required:

• the test required, and
• the doctor and clinic’s name stamp, and
• the clinic’s address, telephone number and clinic’s email address

Please also counsel your patient on the preparations needed before the test, inhalers to withhold before the test (if applicable), indications, how the tests will be performed and risks of the test before sending your patient for the appointment.
