Adj Assoc Prof Roger Tian graduated from the National University of
Singapore in 1996 and subsequently trained and obtained postgraduate
qualifications in Surgery before commencing his practice in Sports
Medicine.
Adj Assoc Prof Tian is the first sports physician to be admitted into
the Sports Medicine specialist register, and his clinical interests
include the management and prevention of sports injuries, strength and
conditioning, as well as sports nutrition. He has served as a sports
physician/ medical director at several major events including the
inaugural Asian Youth Games, Youth Olympics, 70.3 Half-Ironman and the
OSIM Singapore International Triathlon.
Besides clinical work, Adj Assoc Prof Tian is active in education and
research, having published widely in several international
peer-reviewed journals. His publications include a Sports Safety &
Injury Prevention Manual for teachers, and “Boys to Men – the complete
guide for national servicemen.”
Adj Assoc Prof Tian holds concurrent appointments as Senior Clinical
Tutor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS), Clinical Teacher
with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), Examiner for the
Advanced Specialist Training program in Sports Medicine, Examiner in
Orthopaedics for the MBBS program, Clinical Director of the Graduate
Diploma in Sports Medicine, as well as Site Director for postgraduate
Residency programs in Family Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine. He
has also contributed his expertise with the Ministry of Education’s
Healthy Youth Committee, the former Ministry of Community Development,
Youth & Sports’ Sports Safety Committee, as well as the Singapore
Armed Forces’ Fitness Advisory Board.
