Adj Asst Prof Ivy Lim received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
from the National University of Singapore, and obtained her Master in
Family Medicine in 2010 before commencing advanced training in sports
medicine. She is the first locally trained female sports physician and
is also a qualified family physician. Adj Asst Prof Lim is presently Chief of Sport and Exercise Medicine at Changi General Hospital. The Department runs three of Singapore's leading Sport and Exercise Medicine Centers – SSMC@CGH, SSMC@Novena, and SSMC@SSI – where Adj Assoc Prof Lim is Senior Consultant.
Her
clinical interests include sports injuries, pre-participation screening,
sports safety, exercise in women and the role of physical activity in
chronic disease management. Adj Asst Prof Lim has provided medical coverage for
several sports events, including soccer and triathlon. She was the Chief
Equipment Officer for the 2011 and 2012, medical delegate at the Asian Fencing Championship in 2018, and the Lead Physician at the Singapore Tennis Open 2021.
Adj Asst Prof Lim is the Publicity Outreach Director for Exercise is Medicine Singapore
(EIMS), an affiliate of the American College of Sports Medicine, and has
presented her work at local and international conferences. She is
regularly featured in the media and healthcare forums, where she
contributes her expertise on sports and exercise related topics for the
public and her fellow medical professionals. She has co-authored a
chapter in the book “Boys to Men: a complete guide for National
Servicemen”. In addition, she has served in various committees including
the Secretariat of the National Sports Safety Committee in 2007, as
well as the inter-agency Healthy Youth Committee spearheaded by the
Ministry of Education, promoting physical and mental health in
schoolchildren. She was a youth ambassador for the inaugural 2010 Youth
Olympic Games Athlete Committee. Currently, she sits in the executive
committee of the Sports Medicine Association of Singapore, and is also
part of the National Sports Safety Committee. She is also a tutor for
the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM) Programme.
As an athlete, Adj Asst Prof Lim has been active in Air Rifle Shooting since
her student days, winning various accolades including the National
University of Singapore Sportsgirl of the Year Award in 2003 and the
Sports Excellence (SPEX) Grant from Singapore Sports Council. She
represented Singapore in the 10m Air Rifle event at the Southeast Asian
Games as well as numerous world cups and regional championships. Other
than sport shooting, she currently enjoys swimming and pilates during
her free time.
