Profile

Dr Loo Yunhua is a Consultant in the Ocular Inflammation and Immunology department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). She also holds joint appointments as Clinician Scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and Clinical Instructor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

Dr Loo was awarded the National Science Scholarship by the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to pursue the intercalated MB-PhD programme at the University of Cambridge. During her undergraduate studies, she received multiple awards for her academic excellence, including the Winsor Scholarship Award, Hyett Senior Scholarship award and the Prettejohn Senior Scholarship Award. She was ranked in the top decile of her year and graduated with triple First Class Honours and Distinctions. Dr Loo also attained a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2015 for her research in Immunology under Dr Marc Veldhoen at the Babraham Institute. She returned to Singapore for her housemanship and subsequently completed her ophthalmology specialist training at SNEC. Dr Loo is accreditated as a specialist by the Singapore Specialists Accreditation Board and Singapore Medical Council and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist (United Kingdom).

Dr Loo is actively involved in research and her interests lie in animal models for uveitis and glaucoma. She has been awarded several research grants, both as principal and co-investigator. Dr Loo is also passionate about education and has received awards in recognition for her mentoring efforts.
