Saluting everyday heroes

Changi General Hospital (CGH) nurses were celebrated on Singapore’s unique Nurses’ Day on 1 August.

CGH and SingHealth leaders began the celebrations with a walkabout around the hospital, expressing their appreciation to nurses for their ‘heart’ work with gifts

The event commemorates the pioneering French nuns who first brought professional nursing care to the island in 1885. Held on the hospital premises, the two-day celebration recognised the diversity and dedication of CGH’s nursing staff.

Adj Assoc Prof Png Gek Kheng, Chief Nurse, CGH, led nurses in reciting the nurses’ pledge, reaffirming their commitment to care and uphold this noble profession.

CGH nurses were treated to a morning of entertainment, with vibrant and energising performances by multi-talented nurses and CGH leaders.

New, modern and comfortable nurse scrub suits were launched as part of the event. These thoughtfully designed uniforms reflect the professionalism and pride of the nursing community.

CGH nurses were recognised for their outstanding care delivery and dedication to upholding high standards of nursing practice.

In a celebration of diversity, CGH nurses put on a multicultural performance that showcased their various traditions and origins.

The rainbow symbolises strength in diversity. Just like the colours of the rainbow, the diverse backgrounds of nurses complement one another to create something remarkable.
