Inherited retinal diseases are a major cause of blindness in the working age in many countries. Unfortunately, most are untreatable, but we now do have a treatment for one particular genetic cause with several more are in trial phase. The talk will discuss approach to diagnosis and management, including the growing importance of finding the molecular cause in our patients. The most frequently associated genes and variants will be discussed as well as future directions in research, therapy and the relevance of looking beyond single genes.
