Financial Information for Inpatients

You will receive financial counselling before administration at our Specialist Clinic, Accident and Emergency Department or Patient Service Centre. Upon admission, you would receive a letter of undertaking advising you on the estimated hospital charges that will be incurred during your stay here. Pre-admission tests that are conducted for your current stay in the hospital will be included in your inpatient bill. However, if your planned admission is cancelled, the pre-admission test charges will be billed separately.

Request for change in accommodation

You may request for transfer to a higher or lower class ward at anytime when you are admitted as an inpatient. If you request to downgrade from a private ward (A, B1) to a subsidised ward (B2, C), you will have to be financially assessed by our hospital's Medical Social Workers. Just approach your ward nurses to arrange it. However, non-residents are only eligible for private wards, ie. A or B1.

Upgrading

Upon your transfer to a higher class ward, the ward charges will be levied at the higher class rate from the date of transfer. All other service charges will be recomputed to the higher class rate, retrospectively from the date of admission.

Downgrading

Upon your transfer to a lower class ward, the lower class rates will apply from the date of transfer.

Deposit

You may be required to place a deposit at the point of admission. The deposit can be made in the form of cash, cash card, NETS, local cheque or credit card. If your first deposit is insufficient prior to your discharge, a further deposit may be requested.

Medisave

Medisave may be used for yourself, your spouse, children, parents and grandparents (grandparents must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents). The use of Medisave is subject to a withdrawal limit of $400 per day for general inpatient cases and $150 for day surgery. In addition, there is a fixed limit per table for surgical procedures. This ranges from $150 to $5,000, depending on the degree of complexity of the operation. As for psychiatric treatment, the use of Medisave is subject to a withdrawal limit of $150 per day or a maximum of $3500 a year.

For more information on the Medisave scheme, you can refer to the Medisave information on MOH's website. You can also contact the CPF Board at Tel: 1800-227 1188 or visit their website. Ministry of Health at Tel: 1800-225 4122.

MediShield

MediShield (Basic) is a low-cost medical insurance scheme which helps Medisave account holders, and their dependants meet the cost of treatment for serious or prolonged illnesses.

If you are covered by MediShield, the hospital will submit a claim to CPF Board on your behalf upon your discharge.
