While You Are Staying With Us

During Your Stay

The daily routine in the ward includes activities such as ward rounds by doctors, medication, meals, visiting hours and bedtime. However, this routine may vary as laboratory tests, x-ray, treatment and other procedures will take place when required.

Meals

Our dietitians specially plan all meals served in Changi General Hospital. All Muslim meals are Halal. Special diets are also available to patients who need specific diet control. Feel free to approach your ward nurses, if you need to arrange for a consultation with one of our dietitians.

Toiletries

A bath towel is provided for you at your ward. Patients in A1 and B1 wards will also receive a toiletry pack containing a face towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, comb and pen. Shampoo and shower gel is available in the shower rooms in all wards. If there is anything else you may need to make your stay more comfortable, such as slippers, ear plugs or eye shields, please approach your ward nurse.

Paging

If there is a telephone next to your bed, you can page by dialling ‘9’ and then waiting for the tone. Dial the number you wish to page and wait for the beep. Then press the ‘*’ key, followed by 6850-XXXX (XXXX-the extension number indicated on the telephone). Finish by pressing ‘**’.

Handphones

General ward – Please switch your handphone to silent mode and moderate your tone of voice when speaking so as not to disturb fellow patients.

ICU – Please do not use a handphone within 2m of any medical equipment in the ICU.

In-house Entertainment

Regular Mediacorp programmes are available on all televisions in the wards. If you are a A1 or B1 patient, you can also watch programmes on Starhub Cable Vision (SCV). For SCV programme scheduling, please refer to the SCV guide in your bedside locker.

Newspapers

Patients in the A1 ward will receive a copy of the newspaper of your choice daily. Newspapers are also available in the Patients' Lounge daily.

Patients' Lounge

A Patients’ Lounge, located at the entrance to the ward, is available for your use. It is equipped with a television set, daily newspapers, health brochures and other reading materials.

Engaging a Private Nurse

If you wish to employ a private nurse, please inform our nurses. They will help you make the necessary arrangements. Financial arrangements will strictly be between you or your family and the private nurse.

Leaving the Hospital Premises

As your safety and wellbeing is our utmost concern, please remain in the hospital premises till your discharge. If you wish to leave the ward for any reason, please inform the nurse. Patients who wish to be discharged from the hospital against doctor's advice will be required to sign an AOR (At Own Request) form.
