Us
During Your Stay
The daily routine in the ward includes activities
such as ward rounds by doctors, medication, meals, visiting
hours and bedtime. However, this routine may vary as laboratory
tests, x-ray, treatment and other procedures will take place
when required.
Meals
Our dietitians specially plan all meals served
in Changi General Hospital. All Muslim meals are Halal. Special
diets are also available to patients who need specific diet
control. Feel free to approach your ward nurses, if you need
to arrange for a consultation with one of our dietitians.
Toiletries
A bath towel is provided for you at your
ward. Patients in A1 and B1 wards will also receive a toiletry
pack containing a face towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower
cap, comb and pen. Shampoo and shower gel is available in
the shower rooms in all wards. If there is anything else you
may need to make your stay more comfortable, such as slippers,
ear plugs or eye shields, please approach your ward nurse.
Paging
If there is a telephone next to your bed,
you can page by dialling ‘9’ and then waiting
for the tone. Dial the number you wish to page and wait for
the beep. Then press the ‘*’ key, followed by
6850-XXXX (XXXX-the extension number indicated on the telephone).
Finish by pressing ‘**’.
Handphones
General ward – Please switch your handphone
to silent mode and moderate your tone of voice when speaking
so as not to disturb fellow patients.
ICU – Please do not use a handphone within 2m of any
medical equipment in the ICU.
In-house Entertainment
Regular Mediacorp programmes are available
on all televisions in the wards. If you are a A1 or B1 patient,
you can also watch programmes on Starhub Cable Vision (SCV).
For SCV programme scheduling, please refer to the SCV guide
in your bedside locker.
Newspapers
Patients in the A1 ward will receive a copy
of the newspaper of your choice daily. Newspapers are also
available in the Patients' Lounge daily.
Patients' Lounge
A Patients’ Lounge, located at the
entrance to the ward, is available for your use. It is equipped
with a television set, daily newspapers, health brochures
and other reading materials.
Engaging a Private Nurse
If you wish to employ a private nurse, please
inform our nurses. They will help you make the necessary arrangements.
Financial arrangements will strictly be between you or your
family and the private nurse.
Leaving the Hospital Premises
As your safety and wellbeing is our utmost
concern, please remain in the hospital premises till your
discharge. If you wish to leave the ward for any reason, please
inform the nurse. Patients who wish to be discharged from
the hospital against doctor's advice will be required to sign
an AOR (At Own Request) form.
