Changi General Hospital’s Stoma Care Support Group offers counselling and support to patients and their families, before and during their rehabilitation process after stoma surgery. We understand the importance of having the knowledge and skills look after a stoma patient.

• Advise and demonstrate the way to take care of the stoma and peristomal
  skin area, draining wounds and fistula
• Provide guidance to patients and family with regards to caring for and living with
  a stoma
• Co-ordinate training sessions for medical professionals with patients on stoma care
  

At the wards, our stoma care nurses provide consultation relating to the management of stomas. Patients with stomas may be referred as early as the first post-operative day. This is to prevent the occurrence of potential complications, such as skin excoriation.

At CGH, patients and their relatives will be given the name of the stoma care nurse who attended to them. Patients and family are encouraged to contact their nurse if they require further assistance after discharge.
