The
Changi General Hospital Accident and Emergency (A&E)
Department provides 24-hour service for trauma and non-trauma
medical and surgical emergencies. This is supported
by 24-hour x-ray and laboratory service.
We are also equipped
with one operating theatre in A&E where surgical
procedures can be performed, and there is a 12-bedded
observation ward to monitor patients’ responses
to treatment before being discharged from the hospital.

A&E Department handle the following types of emergencies: |
- Medical emergencies e.g.:
cardiac arrest, acute myocardiac attack, severe
infections, asthma, coma, fits and stroke etc
- Surgical emergencies e.g.:
perforated gut, bleeding gastrointerstinal tract and
pancreatitis etc
- Orthopaedic emergencies
e.g.: fractures, dislocations, spinal injuries and
sports injuries etc
- Accidents e.g.: patients
with multiple injuries from road traffic accidents
and
explosions etc
- Poisoning and overdoses
