You should lie comfortably with your head on the pillow,
with the operated ear facing up. You may feel giddy
or feel like vomiting. Please let your nurse know.
Medication will be given to relieve the
symptoms. You’ll also be given an analgesic
(painkiller) to relieve any discomfort of the ear.
If you have a head bandage, it will be removed the
next day for a lighter dressing. Cotton wool at the
entrance of the ear will be changed as well. Take
care that you do not remove any dressing which has
been inserted into the ear canal itself.
Avoid blowing your nose to prevent damage to the
repaired ear drum. And try to avoid turning or bending
your head suddenly.
Stitches are usually removed on the seventh day.
