Changi General Hospital (CGH) is proud to be part of SingHealth's GP Empowerment Programme.

Through this programme, affiliated GPs will be able to enjoy many benefits:

  • A SingHealth Affiliated GP scheme to encourage greater professional interaction and cooperation.
  • Direct ward referrals for SingHealth affiliated GPs.
  • Fast track SOC appointments for SingHealth affiliated GPs.
  • Preferential CME programmes for SingHealth affiliated GPs.

To participate in the GP Empowerment Programme

GPs who wish to participate in the GP Empowerment Programme can submit the application form to the GPEP Office. The GPEP Office will process your application form and inform you in due course.

You will be able to participate in GPEP Office initiatives as soon as you receive confirmation of your affiliation with SingHealth.

Direct Ward Referral

SingHealth affiliated GPs can directly admit patients to Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital for inpatient management. However, please note that it is important that patients with serious or life threatening conditions which require stabilisation and emergency treatment should still be sent to the A&E department for management before admission.

How to refer

The direct ward referral procedure is simple. If you need to send a patient to CGH, you only need to make a call to inform us of the patient's diagnosis and condition and we will make the arrangements to enable your patient to be admitted quickly.

You will also need to complete an admission form and fax it to us.

Fax : 6782 4898

Upon arrival at CGH

Upon arrival, your patient will be directed to the admission desk at A&E for admission and will be referred to a triage nurse. He will also need to produce the admission form that you had filled in.

If the patient is unstable or needs urgent medical attention, he will need to register for A&E consultation and pay for A&E charges. If the patient is stable, he will be directed to the wards after registration is completed.

After the patient is admitted, our doctor will call you to keep you updated. Upon the patient's discharge, an Inpatient Discharge Summary will also be sent to you.

Fast Track SOC Appointments

The fast track SOC appointment system enables GPs to refer urgent cases to the specialist outpatient clinics (SOC) for consultation and evaluation.

The fast track SOC appointment system is quick and easy. If you wish to send your patient to CGH, you need only to call us to inform us of the patient's diagnosis and the department to be referred to. Our staff will arrange an early appointment for your patient. This appointment system applies only to private SOC. You can then advise your patient to come for the appointment with the referral letter.
