CGH celebrated the win by 46 employees
who were conferred the Excellent Service Awards (EXSA) by Spring
Singapore. Our staff won 5 Star Awards, 15 Gold Awards and 26 Silver
Awards.
The Excellent Service Awards (EXSA) 2004 is a national award that
was launched in 1994. It seeks to encourage and motivate all levels
of workers in the service industry in Singapore to deliver quality
service and professionalism at all times.
CGH is especially honoured to have five Star award winners who
received their awards at the EXSA Presentation Ceremony on 9 Nov
2004. They are Ms Lim Seok Hui and Ms Long Lee Keng from Medical
Records Office, Ms Shirley Ng from Ward 49, Ms Salimah Binte Bakar
from Specialist Clinics and Ms Sonya Selvinder Kaur Gill, Rehabilitative
Services.
Ms Lim Seok Hui joined CGH as a Medical Records clerk and was made
a Team Leader with her good performance and organisational skills.
She interacts well with both internal and external customers. Seok
Hui received numerous compliments from other departments for her
good work. Her outstanding contribution and dedication to service
quality also earned her the Certificate of Service Commendation
in October 2003. |

| Ms Long Lee Keng rose from as a Medical Records clerk in 1995 to
Senior Patient Service Assistant with her excellent service attitude
and professionalism. Lee Keng received numerous compliments from patients
for efficiency in processing medical records’ requests and for
taking the initiative to keep patients posted on the progress. One
of the patients thanked Lee Keng for expediting her request for x-ray
films so that she can consult a Chinese physician urgently as her
attending CGH doctor was away from Singapore.
Nurse Clinician, Shirley Ng, joined the hospital in 1990. She often
lends a listening ear to patients and always tries to find a ‘yes’.
Once, an elderly patient was craving for a bowl of ‘wanton’
noodles but she was not able to contact any of her family members
to buy it for her. Shirley delighted the old lady with a bowl of
wanton noodles that she had bought out of her own pocket. Shirley
is also a regular volunteer to the Home for the Elderly in Hougang,
she visits the home and helps to cut the hair of the elderly residents.
Ms Salimah Bte Bakar, Patient Service Assistant (PSA), is a very
helpful staff who takes time to answer patients’ queries patiently
when she sees them at the Specialist Clinics. For her exemplary
attitude, Salimah is a buddy trainer who guides new PSAs for 3 months
after they joined the hospital. Salimah readily shares her experience
with fellow colleagues and helps them provide better service to
patients.
Ms Sonya Selvinder Kaur Gill, Physiotherapist, has a passion for
patients’ recovery and works at the Rehabilitation gym. It
is sometimes difficult to get patients to exercise when they are
in pain or depressed by their altered physical condition but Sonya’s
professionalism and perseverance wins them over. She received a
lot of positive feedback from patients and their family members.
One compliment was from a patient’s father who wrote in to
thank Sonya for going that extra mile to help his son through 9
months of therapy sessions after a serious knee injury.
