CGH’s IPG Won

2004 Asian Hospital   Management Award

CGH’s Interactive Patient Guide (IPG) won the Most Outstanding Project in the IT or E-Commerce category at the 2004 Asian Hospital Management Awards. Dr Wong Chiang Yin, CGH’s Chief Operating Officer received the award on behalf of the hospital at the Plaza Athénéé Hotel, Bangkok on 7 Oct 2004.

IPG was launched in October 2002 offering information and advice online beyond the print medium using multimedia tools and video clips.

Not resting on its laurels, 10 new procedures were introduced with a slant towards health promotion topics such as “Managing Sports Injuries”, “Health Screening and You” and “Managing Stress” to align with MOH’s priorities to build a healthy Singapore population. New clinical services and disciplines such as Dermatogy, Eye, Sports Medicine and Multiphasic Health Screening were also added. A total of 25 procedures and medical conditions are now available for viewing.

The improved IPG is also available in English, Chinese and will be available in Malay and Tamil by end November.

IPG, a collaborative effort by a team of CGH doctors, nurses and hospital staff, aims to provide our patients with online health-related information. It enhances patients’ counselling by letting them see for themselves the steps of a surgical procedure and allows them to absorb the information at their own time and pace in their preferred language.

Patients can view more IPG video clips to understand
a procedure better.

Print versions of all 25 procedures are also available for download. This will supplement the health information brochures that are already available on the CGH website.

IPG, is available for viewing from patients’ home at www.cgh.com.sg/ipg/index.htm, at the hospital’s Health Education Centre or Specialist Clinics C, F, M and R.
