Mouth-watering Festive Meals
  Mouth-Watering Festive Meals

Patients staying at Changi General Hospital (CGH) during the festive season can always look forward to having a delicious festive meal at the hospital. These sumptious festive meals, specially prepared by the hospital's Dietetics & Catering Department, not only look into the dietary requirements of the patients. The meals are also planned to include a festive twist to each specific cuisine.

"Many patients are happy with these festive meals that we have come up with. These meals are nutritious, and they capture the various moods of these festivals," Executive Chef Hohnny Chua from the Dietetics & Catering Department said.

Indeed over Christmas recently, a special Christmas eve dinner was served to spread some festive cheer. There were three different menus for Christmas eve. They include the Oriental menu which features the Ginseng soup, Chinese-styled stewed chicken with green vegetables with oyster sauce, and dessert which includes fresh fruits and fruit cake. Not to be outdone, the western menu offered traditional Christmas fare with homemade pumpkin soup and roasted turkey or honey baked ham, as well as dessert including fresh fruits and fruit cake.

The Hari Raya Puasa menu includes the Soto Ayam (Malay chicken soup), Ayam Panggang Beranika Cara (Roast Crispy Chicken) with Dalchar Sayur (Mixed vegetable lentil curry), dessert Buah Buahan (fresh fruit platter) and fruit cake.

Other menus include the Deepavali and the Chinese New Year menus. Some mouth-watering spread served during the Deepavali season includes Tandoori Chooza (chicken), Navratan Korma (vegetable) and Beenaj Rice, which are halal, are served up for our patients who are spending their time at the hospital during the occasion.

For Chinese patients who are staying at Changi General Hospital, they can expect from the Kitchen an offering of Braised dried oyster with mushroom and Fa Cai. Other dishes of the New Year include Stir-fried leek with bacon, beancurd and yam rice. A dessert of fresh fruits is also included as part of the menu.

With these delicious treats, patients can still enjoy the festivities at the hospital even though they are away from home.
