Transport relief from SMRT

CGH has received a generous donation of $14,000 from transport operator, SMRT. The donation, which is given as part of SMRT’s Gift of Mobility Programme, will be used to pay for CGH’s needy patients’ taxi fares.

Given the present hard times, the donation is a welcome relief to our financially needy patients who require taxi services as the main mode of transportation for their travelling to and from the hospital for medical treatment and therapy sessions.

Mr T K Udairam, CEO CGH, received the cheque from Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minster for Health (MOH), at a cheque presentation ceremony held at the Singapore Zoological Gardens on 20 September 2008.

Apart from CGH, three other hospitals and two Volunteer Welfare Organisations - Alexandra Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Bizlink Centre Singapore Ltd, and the Society for the Physically Disabled - also benefitted from SMRT’s Gift of Mobility Programme which donated a total of $180,000 worth of taxi services.

Welfare funds from SPH

CGH is happy to receive donations from SPH for two of our patient welfare programmes - HomeCare Assist, and Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination for the Elderly.

Each programme receives $10,000 presented by Dr Tony Tan, SPH Chairman, in a ceremony held at SPH News Centre on 5 August 2008.

Under the HomeCare Assist, the extra funds will be used to pay for medical and homecare equipment, and consumable supplies, among other necessities for needy patients with chronic illness and / or disabilities who are living at home.

The other donation will help pay for pneumonia vaccinations which are expected to benefit about 160 elderly patients.

“With SPH’s help, we will be able to extend a helping hand to more needy patients,” says Mr T K Udairam, CEO CGH.

CGH was among the 20 beneficiaries to receive donations from SPH in its annual giving drive which is in its fifth year. A total of $200,000 was given to organisations helping the needy elderly, and providing day care home nursing and befriending services.
