In our aim to become a Hospital recognised by patients and
staff for excellence and compassion in service and care, the
Hospital develops a holistic learning and development approach
to provide staff with the skills and competencies required
to meet both short and long term needs.
Staff are equipped with both the soft and
hard skills through formal and informal learning activities.
Learning is done formally through a comprehensive portfolio
of learning and development courses and seminars which include
clinical & nursing, service quality, patient safety, performance
and quality improvement, supervisory development and management
development. It is also done informally through QC
activities, journal club, leadership club, research forum,
bi-monthly talks and i-Learn portal.
Each year, the Hospital commits to invest
4% of the learning budget as a percentage of annual payroll
on staff development and continuing education. Annually, each
staff is also allocated 80 learning hours. For its efforts
in people development, CGH received the National Training
Awards in 1995 and People Developer Award in 1998 from SPRING
Singapore.
