Promoting Health in the Northeast Community
To forge stronger community links, CGH co-organised a health event with the Northeast Community Development Council on 4 May 2003. The one-day event, named ALIVE - Northeast Fusion Lifestyle, was the first health festival held by the Council. It covered four areas of interest namely sports, traditional therapies, modern alternative therapies, and food and nutrition. CGH's Dietetics and Catering Department and Diabetes Centre participated in the food and nutrition sector with the objective of helping the community understand the importance of choosing the right foods to eat healthily. Their four interactive booths educated more than 1,000 residents on Know Your Food Labels, Cook Smart and Check Your Body Mass Index.

Fun with Food and Exercise
CGH further supported the Northeast Community Development Council District Day on 29 February 2004. As part of the celebrations, it participated in the 'Funtasia' event held near Tampines MRT.

The Dietetics & Catering Department booth drew crowds with its colourful food displays indicating the amount of fat in each dish. Apart from raising awareness of the food pyramid, the Department conducted free body mass index and body fat analysis. CGH's new Changi Sports Medicine Centre also participated by promoting lifestyle changes through adopting an active lifestyle. In addition, the CGH Pharmacy sold pedometers to increase one? step count through physical activity such as walking, stepping and dancing.
