Consistent with our vision of a hospital recognised for excellence and compassion in service and patient care, CGH’s learning philosophy is to train and equip all staff with the right attitude and specialised knowledge and skills to care for our patients in the best possible way.
In line with this learning philosophy and our mission to foster a culture of innovation and lifelong learning, we have put into place an integrated staff competency model and a learning and development roadmap to equip our staff with deep clinical and professional skills in their area of expertise. Divided into five key areas, they are, service orientation and integrity, innovation, performance, people and personal effectiveness.
A variety of training courses are developed around these five competencies for all professional groups, from nurses, doctors, allied health professionals to the administration staff. The topics range from service quality, to patient safety and leadership management. These courses are often adapted to real work situations so that staff can learn how to deliver outstanding service and care.
For its efforts in people development, CGH has consistently won Singapore human resources awards 5 years in a row from 2005–2010. In 2010, CGH received 4 Singapore Human Resources Awards:
