A 3rd time winner of the Family Friendly Employer Award, CGH’s family-friendly infrastructure is built on our belief in catering to the physical, social and emotional well being of our staff.
Our staff have a favourable opinion of working in the hospital. The result of our latest biennial Employee Opinion Survey, where more than 72,000 staff from other organisations were surveyed, shows a strong edge over the Singapore norm.
Here are some of our family-friendly programmes:
Health and Wellness Programme
With the knowledge that healthy staff can maintain a better work-life balance and be a role model for healthy living, we have implemented a variety of health and wellness programmes, including annual health screening, healthy food choice campaign, weight loss management programme and health talks.
The families of staff are also encouraged to participate in healthy lifestyle activities, such as walkathons, marathons, nature hikes, as well as adventure trips, such as the Outward Bound course. They can use our in-house facilities (e.g. gymnasium, table tennis / badminton / basketball / tennis courts and dance studio) for games, sports and exercise and our equipment (e.g. fat-measuring machine, blood pressure machine at the staff lounge) to monitor their own health.
The success of our wellness programme has won us the following awards under the Singapore Human Resources Institution Awards:
- HR Advocate Award (Quality Work-Life for 2005, 2007 & 2009)
- Leading HR Practices Award (Quality Work-Life + Workplace Safety & Health for 2009)
- Leading HR Practices (Special Mention) Award (Health & Employee Wellness for 2009)
Family Support Service
We have arranged for various convenience services to help our staff better manage their family / personal needs. Such services include monthly bazaar sale, weekly fruits and vegetable sale, courier pick up service and referral services on dependent care / errand services (e.g. dinner catering, grocery & fresh food delivery) via the HR intranet.
Various enrichment programmes, including the annual CGH Juniors @ Play, are organised during the school holidays. Apart from learning and having fun, the children also get to discover what their daddy or mummy does in the workplace.
Other support services include subsidies for in-house CGH Child Care Centre, emergency child care service, regular lunch time talks on family-related issues and a work-life resource corner for staff to obtain free brochures and reading materials.
